Architecture

At RLF, we believe in the value of listening – carefully, thoughtfully – to our client’s vision. But we don’t stop there. We want to learn who our clients are, not just what they need. We do our homework – research, ask questions and clarify – because we know that understanding our clients thoroughly is the key to helping them succeed.

High-performance Environments

RLF is known for creating high-performance environments, but what does a high-performance design entail? Our designs are built on smart and nuanced design decisions that yield the attributes we view as essential for any design: intentional spaces that are responsive to the various needs of users and maintenance personnel, functionality ideally suited to the building type and uses, efficiencies for the owner and longevity of the building as it evolves over time. Every project is unique, but our measure of success is the same: the creation of meaningful, enduring places that inspire, nurture and perform.

Specialized Services

01

Medical Equipment Planning

RLF’s proprietary space and equipment database, utilized by a cross-trained staff, allows us to check both space and equipment requirements from the initial concept through construction documents. Since equipment and technology planning proceeds simultaneously with space programming, a draft equipment budget is developed at the same time.

02

Campus Master Planning

100+ master plans 10+ Million gsf. Since 1951, we have provided master planning services for healthcare facilities. From medical office buildings to large medical campuses, we can help you create places that perform.

Computational Design

Computational design merges traditional design techniques with advanced computational technologies. Applying computational techniques to our design workflow radically changes how we construct interfaces, services, equipment and buildings. Instead of specifying fixed shapes, designers define the entire process by which an object is created.
