Description
RLF provided master planning, programming and full architecture and engineering design services for a four-story medical clinic and surgery center; a two-story, freestanding dental clinic; modernization and renovations of two existing facilities; and a new CEP. A circular-shaped grand entrance connects the new clinic to a new four-story parking structure and carries the design element into the interior spaces. The project was completed on an active medical campus with carefully planned programming and complex phasing solutions that addressed challenges related to the wedge-shaped site, critical setbacks and the need to integrate existing buildings into the consolidated design. Efforts included gaining approval from the National Capital Planning Commission and the Maryland State Historic Preservation Office.
Both healthcare facilities (medical clinic/surgery center and dental clinic) were designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
