Description

The Leonard and Marjorie Family YMCA, designed by RLF in collaboration with the YMCA of Central Florida and the Dr. Phillips Foundation, stands as one of the initial completed developments within the comprehensive master plan designed to preserve the region's rich history and heritage. This 32,000-square-foot facility strongly emphasizes wellness, youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, all while providing a space that fosters community connections.

The exterior design harmoniously blends elements of industrial brick reminiscent of Dr. Phillips' original constructions with prominent "Y" columns, expansive windows that offer clear views inside and out, and a contemporary blend of modern materials and textures. Following the overarching master plan, the building also serves as a gateway connecting the park and bike/running paths that link with neighboring areas.

The interior opens into a large two-story atrium, which features welcoming graphics and distinctive orange peel light fixtures that pay homage to the citrus industry synonymous with the Packing District's history. The building layout separates activities by a bridge, further symbolizing the convergence of two distinct communities. The interior also provides vibrant kids' spaces with bright colors and engaging, interactive fitness options.

Other amenities include a large fitness room, a gymnasium, group exercise studios, locker rooms, a child development center, administrative offices, a conference room, a café, retail, and a multi-use outdoor terrace overlooking a splash pad and lap pool.
