Grand old Florida hotel-style architecture firmly integrates this campus into its historic surroundings.
Description
RLF began working with AdventHealth and Winter Park Hospital in 2004 to develop a master plan, conducting visioning sessions to establish the architectural character for the expanding campus. The RLF team reviewed the previous plans, documented existing conditions and analyzed operations to provide recommendations for the future growth of the campus. The resulting design addresses platforms for all private patient rooms, growth of surgical specialties, and improvements to outpatient, imaging and emergency services.
RLF designed a new five-story pavilion addition to accommodate floors containing critical care/progressive care, medical surgical and two floors of shell space. The ground floor of the pavilion houses surgery support spaces, registration and shelled space for future dining and kitchen. Other phases included demolition of select aged structures, a new emergency department for increased volume and upgrades to the central energy plant. A central “mall” provides intuitive wayfinding and allows clearly defined access to outpatient services and amenities such as the chapel, dining area and courtyards.
