The Child Development Center (CDC), part of a master plan at the Villaggio housing area in Vicenza, serves the dependent children of the U.S. Army at Caserma Ederle and the Vicenza area. The existing facilities couldn’t serve increased enrollment demands and severe military and security restrictions prevented expansion.
The facility accommodates up to 198 children ages 0-5 in the CDC space and another 150 children in activity rooms, including the computer center and dining area in the School Age Student (SAS) space. The CDC and SAS share a kitchen and administrative space.
RLF’s redevelopment included the analysis, design, and implementation of a phased master plan that also included parking areas, bus ramp, playgrounds, recreation fields, youth center, and new schools to support and enhance the educational experience for the children of military personnel stationed at the base.
