AWARD-WINNING PROJECT

With its distinctive Spanish-Renaissance architecture and detail, the Olin Library at Rollins College addresses all the principles of a state-of-the-art library and education facility while achieving harmony with the unique character and scale traditional to the 130-year-old campus.
Placing the 4-story building on a sloped site along the lake allowed the designers to partially bury the ground floor below the grade and “hide” the upper floor under a barrel tile clay roof, giving the illusion of a smaller structure that complements the surrounding historic buildings.
The most recent additions and alterations, designed to technologically update the facility, include 12,000 SF of new construction and 40,000 SF of renovation. Elaborate stonework, copper roofs, textured stucco walls, and light fixtures made of wrought iron and textured glass further accentuate the Spanish Mission architectural style
