AWARD-WINNING PROJECT

AREA:
27,000 GSF

COMPLETED:
2015

An extensive collection of art depicting old Florida needed a new home on the campus of the Museum of Arts and Sciences. Cici and Hyatt Brown requested that the design of the hurricane-proof building reflect the “Cracker” style of the paintings they donated. The modern interpretation of an old wooden barn, featuring state-of-the-art lighting and environmental controls for the permanent exhibition space and rotating galleries, includes an education center, interior and exterior spaces for events, café, and gift shop. The site, which preserves the site’s trees and wetlands, serves as a front door of the MOAS campus.
